Gerald Johnson of Detroit Lakes has been blind for 31 years after being hit by a car. In January, he is getting a chance to see again with special glasses. Brian Basham / Forum News Service
A model shows off the special glasses that use sensors in the tongue to produce the image in front of the glasses for the brain to see. The image isn’t detailed, but it does allow the person to ‘see’ the object’s shape and whether it’s moving, which is more than Gerry Johnson of Detroit Lakes has seen in years.
